# Editing your page

> From FilmScorecard Help: https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/editing-your-page

Every project in [Your projects](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-projects.md) has a public page, and
its **Page** tab is where you build it. A page is a stack of **blocks** — a
header, links, a trailer, stills, laurels, screenings and more — that you add,
fill in, move and hide, plus a **Design** tab for its theme, fonts and colours.
This guide covers the Page tab, every block and its fields, the Design tab, how
your edits are saved, publishing, and every message you can meet.

**You edit a draft; visitors see what you last published.** Every edit saves
itself to your draft within a second or so, and nothing changes for visitors
until you publish. Who can open the page and what they see is in
[The public film page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/public-page.md).

**Your title, details and poster are not edited here.** They live on the
project's **Details** tab, and the page's header reads them from there. See
[Your project's details](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/project-details.md).

**Nothing you edit here reaches a festival.** Each festival keeps the copy of
your submission it received. The only way a value reaches a festival is
**Send** in the bell's To do list, or **Send to festival** under **To do** on
your project's **Overview** — one festival at a time, only while that festival
is asking, and always from your **Details**, never from this page. See
[Sending something to a festival](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md#sending-something-to-a-festival).

## The Page tab

Open **Page** in your project's sidebar. The tab is the builder itself: there
is no edit mode to open or close. It has three parts, each scrolling on its own:

- **the page bar** across the top;
- **the panel** on the left, with its **Blocks** and **Design** tabs;
- **the preview** beside it, which draws your draft as a visitor would get it.

### The page bar

Left to right:

- **Page**, and a pill: **Not published yet** before your first publish,
**Private** once a published page has been made private, and no pill while
  the page is public.
- The page's address, such as `filmscorecard.com/p/lantern-field`, with
**Change** beside it while the page is not public. See
  [Page address](#page-address).
- **Draft saved 14:32**: the time of the last save, on a 24-hour clock in your
own time zone. A save problem shows here instead, in red. See
  [When a save fails](#when-a-save-fails).
- Why publishing is held, in red, when something needs fixing. See
  [What holds publishing](#what-holds-publishing).
- **Discard draft**, while your draft differs from the published page. See
  [Discard draft](#discard-draft).
- **View as visitor**. See [View as visitor](#view-as-visitor).
- **⋯**, holding **Make page private** while the page is public. See
  [Make page private](#make-page-private).
- The publish button. See [Publishing](#publishing).

### The panel

The **Blocks** tab shows, from the top:

1. **Get your page ready**, until your first publish. See
   [Get your page ready](#get-your-page-ready).
2. **Your page**: every block on the page, in order, with the number of blocks
beside it (the Header counted). See [Reading Your page](#reading-your-page).
3. **Add a block**: the blocks you can add. See
   [Adding a block](#adding-a-block).

**Opening a block replaces the panel with that block's editor.** **All
blocks**, at its top, or **Done**, at its foot, brings the panel back.

The **Design** tab holds the page's look. See [Design](#design). **A small red
dot on the tab means the colours are holding publishing.**

On a wide screen, the button beside the two tabs collapses the panel to a thin
strip, so the preview has the room. The button on the strip opens it again, and
so does opening any block. The strip carries the same red dot.

### The preview

Across its top, **Preview** and a **Desktop** / **Phone** switch. **Phone**
draws the page in a frame 400 pixels wide, in one column, as a phone shows it.
It changes only your view, never the page.

- **Click a block to select it.** It gets a blue outline and a small bar over
its top-right corner: a grip to drag it by, its name, up and down arrows,
**More actions** (**Hide from page** and **Remove block**) and **Edit**. The
Header's bar has only its name and **Edit**.
- **With an editor already open**, clicking another block opens that block's
  editor straight away.
- **Click empty space** around the page to clear the selection.
- **An empty block shows a dashed box** with a prompt, such as "Add a label and
a link." Visitors never see it.
- **A hidden block shows as a strip**, "Hidden from your page: Press quotes",
  with **Show**.
- **On a project without Pro, a Contact form shows as a strip** too, "Contact
form shows on your page with Pro.", with **Get Pro**, hidden or not. It
cannot be selected in the preview: open, move, hide or remove it from its row
in **Your page**. See [Contact form](#contact-form).
- **Links, Play buttons and the contact form do nothing in the preview.** A
click on them selects the block. To try them, use
  [View as visitor](#view-as-visitor).

**With the keyboard**, Tab to a block and press Enter or Space to select it;
press it again to open its editor. Escape steps back one thing at a time: it
cancels a drag or a block you are placing, closes a menu, then clears the
selection.

## What a new page starts with

The first time you open **Page**, it builds a starter page from your project's
details.

| A film | A screenplay |
| --- | --- |
| Header | Header |
| Social links, with one empty Instagram row | Social links, with one empty Instagram row |
| Video, titled **Trailer** | Link, **Read the first ten pages**, highlighted, with no link yet |
| Text, headed **About** | Text, headed **About** |
| Images, empty | Cast and crew, headed **Writer** |
| Cast and crew | Contact form, with Pro only |
| Contact form, with Pro only | |

**The Contact form is part of the starter only when the project has Pro** the
first time you open **Page**. Without Pro, the page starts without one. A
project that takes Pro later does not get one added: add it from
[Add a block](#adding-a-block). See [Contact form](#contact-form).

What it fills in from **Details**:

- **The Header** uses the **Poster** layout when the project has a poster, and
**Title only** when it has none. Its tagline is your logline.
- **The Trailer video** takes your trailer link, but only when it is a Vimeo or
  YouTube link.
- **About** takes your synopsis.
- **Cast and crew** takes every credit whose role contains "Director" (on a
screenplay, "Writer"), with its name and role.
- **The Contact form**, with Pro, introduces you: "For programmers, press and
distributors. Messages go to Ana Ruiz."
- **The design** is the Studio theme, in the Side column layout, on a solid
  background.

Anything your details do not have is left empty, and **empty blocks stay off
your page**, so a starter page never shows a blank box to a visitor.

**The starter is a copy, made once.** Changing your logline, synopsis, trailer
link or credits on **Details** afterwards does not change these blocks. Only
the Header's title, details line and poster keep following **Details**. See
[Header](#header).

## Get your page ready

A card at the top of the **Blocks** tab, until your first publish. It reads
"Your public page for Lantern Field. Share it with programmers, press and
audiences." ("producers, managers and competitions" on a screenplay), with a
count such as **3 of 6** beside its title.

| Row | Ticked when | Pressing it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Filled in from your submission** | Always ticked. Shown only when the project is linked to a festival submission. | Nothing. |
| **Add stills** (a film) | An Images block has an image. | Opens your first Images block, or adds one. |
| **Add your trailer** (a film) | A Video block has a link. | Opens your first Video block, or adds one. |
| **Link your sample pages** (a screenplay) | A Link block has both a label and a link. | Opens your first Link block, or adds one. |
| **Add your social links** | Social links has a link. | Opens Social links, or adds it. |
| **Choose a design** | You have opened the **Design** tab once. | Opens the **Design** tab. |
| **Check your page address** | You have pressed **Save address**, even without changing it. | Opens the address dialog. See [Page address](#page-address). |

**Hide** takes the card away for good. It also goes by itself once the page is
published.

## Blocks

### Adding a block

**Add a block**, at the foot of the **Blocks** tab, lists what you can add in
two groups, each A to Z:

- **Your content**: Cast and crew, Contact form, Images, Link, Press quotes,
Screenings, Social links, Text, Video and Where to watch.
- **From FilmScorecard**: Laurels, with the line "These fill themselves from
your festivals and stay up to date."

**On a project without Pro, the Contact form carries a Pro pill**, here and in
the **+** list. It still adds: it goes into your draft, but does not show on
your page until the project has Pro. See [Contact form](#contact-form).

**Link, Text, Video and Images can go on the page as many times as you like.**
Every other block goes on once, and its tile leaves the list while it is there.

There are three ways to add one:

1. **Pick, then click.** Click a tile. It turns blue, and the line above the
tiles reads "Click a spot on the page to put Video there." Dashed slots
reading **Put Video here** appear between the blocks in the preview: click
one. **Add to the end** puts the block at the bottom instead, and **Cancel**
   (or Escape) gives up.
2. **Drag a tile** onto one of those slots.
3. **The +.** Hover over the space between two blocks in the preview. A dashed
line and a round **+** appear; click it for a list of the blocks that can go
   there.

The new block's editor opens, and the preview scrolls to it.

**In the Side column layout, Header, Social links and Link sit in the side
column and everything else in the main column.** A slot or a **+** only offers
a block where it can go, and picking Link or Social links adds "On desktop it
goes in the side column." to the line. See [Desktop layout](#desktop-layout).

**A page holds at most 60 blocks**, the Header counted. At 60, every way of
adding is refused with "That is the most this page takes."

### Moving a block

- **In Your page**, drag a row by its grip. A blue line shows where it will
land. Or focus the grip and use the up and down arrow keys.
- **In the preview**, select the block, then drag it by the grip on its bar to
a slot reading **Move Press quotes here**, or press its up and down arrows.
In the Side column layout the arrows and slots keep a block in its own
  column.
- **Dragging near the top or bottom edge** of the panel or the preview scrolls
  it.

**The Header is always first.** It cannot be moved, and nothing can go above
it.

### Hiding a block

**Hide from page** is in a row's **⋯** menu in **Your page**, and under **More
actions** on the preview's block bar.

- **A hidden block keeps everything in it.** It carries a **Hidden** pill in
**Your page** and shows as a strip in the preview.
- **Show on page**, in the same menu, or **Show** on the strip, brings it back.
- **Visitors never see a hidden block.**
- **Hiding counts as a change**, and a mistake inside a hidden block still
holds publishing. See [What holds publishing](#what-holds-publishing).

The Header cannot be hidden.

### Removing a block

**Remove block** is in a row's **⋯** menu in **Your page**, under **More
actions** on the preview's block bar, and at the foot of the block's editor. It
asks first:

> **Remove Press quotes?** Its content leaves your draft. Discard draft brings
> it back until you publish. **Cancel** **Remove block**

Confirming shows "Block removed from your draft." The Header cannot be removed.

### Reading Your page

Each row has a grip, the block's name, its pills, a short summary and a **⋯**
menu (**Edit block**, **Hide from page** or **Show on page**, and **Remove
block**).

- **The name** is a Link's label, a Text's heading or a Video's title when it
has one, and otherwise the kind of block.
- **Auto**, on the Header and Laurels, means the block fills itself: the Header
from your project's details, Laurels from your festivals.
- **The summary** says what is in it, such as **3 images**, **2 people** or
  **Poster, tagline and details**.
- **A grey name means the block will not reach visitors**: its summary reads
"Empty, not on your page yet", or starts "Hidden.".
- **Pro**, on a Contact form in a project without Pro, means it will not reach
visitors until the project has Pro. Its name is grey and its summary reads
"Shows on your page with Pro".
- **The Header** reads **Always first**, and has no grip and no menu.

Clicking a row opens its editor and scrolls the preview to the block.

### The block editor

Every editor has the same frame: **All blocks** at the top, the block's name
and one line about it, its fields, then **Remove block** (not on the Header),
**Done**, and "Changes save to your draft. Publish puts them on your page."

**Lists.** A block made of several items — images, quotes, people, screenings
and so on — numbers them (**Quote 1**, **Quote 2**), each with up and down
arrows and **Remove**, and shows a count such as **3 of 6**. At the limit, the
add button gives way to "That is the most this block takes." Screenings have
no arrows: they always show by date.

**Headings.** Laurels, Screenings, Press quotes, Cast and crew, Where to watch
and the Contact form each have a **Heading** box, up to 40 characters. Leave it
empty and the page uses the block's own heading, which the box shows in grey:
"Leave it empty to use "What people are saying"."

**Limits.** A box with a limit counts as you type, such as **12 of 40**. Most
let you type past the limit: your draft still saves, but the box shows what to
fix and publishing is held until you trim it.

**Links.** Every link box takes a full web address starting with `https://`.
`http://` is not accepted. The one exception is a video link, which may leave
`https://` off.

**Text is shown exactly as you type it.** Line breaks are kept; nothing becomes
bold, a list or a link.

## Every block and its fields

### Header

Always first, on every page. It shows your project's title, the tagline, and a
line of details such as "Short film, 12:47, 2026, Drama, Spain".

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Layout** | **Poster**, **Still** or **Title only**. |
| **Poster** (Poster layout) | Your project's poster, read-only. With none, "No poster yet." and **Add a poster**, which opens **Details** at the poster. |
| **Which still** (Still layout) | One of the images on your page, drawn wide above the title. See [Picking an image](#picking-an-image). |
| **Tagline** | Up to 140 characters. |

Under the fields, a card marked **From your project details** shows the title
and the details line, and **Edit project details** opens the **Details** tab.

- **The details line** is the kind — **Short film** (40 minutes or less),
**Feature film**, **Film** (no runtime yet) or **Screenplay** — then the
runtime or page count, the year, the first genre and the country. A part
with no value is left out.
- **The title, details line and poster are your project's own.** Change them
on **Details** and the header follows, on your public page as well, with no
  need to publish.
- **Poster with no poster, or Still with no still picked,** draws the header as
  Title only.
- **The tagline is the page's own copy.** It starts as your logline, but
changing one never changes the other.

### Link

A button that opens any page: tickets, a review, your website.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Label** | The words on the button, up to 40 characters. |
| **Link** | A full web address starting with `https://`. |
| **Highlight this link** | A switch. On, the button is filled with your accent colour so it stands out from your other links. |

**It needs both a label and a link**, or it stays off the page. Visitors'
presses of it are counted as **Link clicks** on your Overview.

### Social links

Up to 9, shown as a row of buttons in your order, each named for its platform.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Platform** | Facebook, IMDb, Instagram, Letterboxd, TikTok, Vimeo, Website, X or YouTube. A new row starts as Website. |
| **Link** | A full web address starting with `https://`. |

Only rows with a link are shown. You can pick the same platform twice.

### Text

A heading, a few paragraphs, or both.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Heading** | Optional, up to 40 characters. |
| **Text** | Up to 5,000 characters. It counts words as you type. |

### Video

One Vimeo or YouTube link, and what is shown before it plays.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Title** | Optional, up to 200 characters, such as Trailer. It is shown as the video's heading. |
| **Video link** | A Vimeo or YouTube link. `vimeo.com/123456` is fine: `https://` is added when you leave the box. |
| **Cover** | Appears once the link is right. **From the video** shows a plain frame with the link printed in its corner; **An image** shows one of your page's images (**Which image**). |

**Nothing loads from Vimeo or YouTube until a visitor presses Play**; the video
then plays in place. A link that cannot be played on the page opens in a new
tab instead. A visitor's first press on each visit is counted as a **Video
play** on your Overview.

### Images

Up to 12 images, in your order. One image shows large; two or more make a grid.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Upload images** | Opens your file chooser. You can pick several at once. See [Uploading images](#uploading-images). |
| **Caption** | Optional, up to 200 characters, under the image. |

The images in your Images blocks are also the ones the Header's still, a
Video's cover and the page background choose from.

### Laurels

The festivals your project has been selected for or won at. **A new page has
no Laurels block**: add one from **From FilmScorecard** in **Add a block**.

**Laurels from festivals on FilmScorecard are added for you.** Each one is a
card marked **From festivals** in the editor, with the result, the festival's
name, and the year and category:

- the result is **Official Selection**, **Winner**, **Honorable Mention**,
  **Nominee**, **Finalist**, **Semifinalist** or **Quarterfinalist**;
- it appears once the festival announces that result, and never for an entry
  still being considered, not selected or waiting on a decision;
- it shows first, carries a small **Verified** mark on the page, and cannot be
  edited or hidden on its own;
- it appears, changes or goes away by itself, with no need to publish, and is
  never counted as a change.

**Your laurels**, under them, are the ones you add from other festivals, up to
8:

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Laurel** | The result, such as Official Selection. |
| **Year** | Optional. Four digits, from 1900 to 2099. |
| **Festival** | The festival's name. A laurel without one is not shown. |

Your own laurels carry no Verified mark.

### Screenings

Readings or screenings, up to 10, always shown by date.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Date** | Your browser's date picker. |
| **Time** | Your browser's time picker. |
| **Venue** | The place. |
| **City** | The city. |
| **Ticket link** | A full web address starting with `https://`. It becomes a **Tickets** button. |

A screening needs a date or a venue to be shown. A missing one reads "Date to
come", "time to come" or "Venue to come". The editor sorts the list by date
when you open it, and adds new rows at the end until you open it again.

### Press quotes

Up to 6 quotes, in your order.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Quote** | Up to 400 characters. |
| **Source** | Who said it, up to 200 characters, such as a name and publication. |
| **Link to the review** | Optional, `https://`. It becomes **Read the review** under the quote. |

### Cast and crew

Up to 12 people, in your order.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Photo** | **Upload photo**, then **Replace photo** and **Remove photo**. Without one, the page shows the person's initials. See [Uploading images](#uploading-images). |
| **Name** | Up to 200 characters. A person without a name is not shown. |
| **Role** | Up to 200 characters. |
| **Short bio** | Up to 300 characters. |

### Where to watch

Up to 4 places to watch, rent or buy, in your order.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Where** | Any words, such as Vimeo On Demand, up to 200 characters. |
| **Note** | Up to 200 characters, such as To rent worldwide from 1 Dec 2026. |
| **Link** | A full web address starting with `https://`. |

### Contact form

A form visitors use to write to you. **It is part of Pro**: see
[Creator Pro](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/creator-pro.md).

**Without Pro, the Contact form stays off your page.** You can still add it,
edit around it and publish with it in your draft, but visitors never see it:

- its tile in **Add a block** and its row in **Your page** carry a **Pro**
  pill, and the row reads "Shows on your page with Pro";
- the preview shows the strip "Contact form shows on your page with Pro." with
  **Get Pro**;
- its editor holds only a card — **Pro**, **Contact form**, "Visitors write to
you from your page without seeing your address. Included with Pro." and
**Get Pro** — with **Remove block** and **Done** under it as usual.

**Get Pro** opens the dialog for getting Pro for this project. What the block
holds is kept. **A Contact form you have published appears on your page as
soon as the project has Pro**, with no need to publish again. If Pro ends, it
leaves your page at once, and comes back the same way if you take Pro again.

With Pro, the editor shows the block's fields:

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| **Intro** | Up to 400 characters, above the form: who should write, and about what. |

Under it, a line says where messages go: "Messages go to" and the address you
sign in with. **That address cannot be changed here, and visitors never see
it.** A second line reads "Messages also land in the Messages tab." — see
[Messages](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/messages.md). The form's own fields are fixed: **Your name**,
**Email**, **Organisation** (optional), **Message** and **Send**. Where
messages arrive is in [The public film page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/public-page.md).

## Uploading images

**An image uploads the moment you pick it, and goes into your draft once it
has arrived.** Visitors see it once you publish.

1. Press **Upload images** in an Images block, or **Upload photo** for a
person in Cast and crew. Your file chooser opens.
2. Each file shows a progress bar and **Uploading…**, then its thumbnail.
3. Your draft saves itself, as with any other edit.

**JPG, PNG and WebP files are accepted.** Your browser prepares each image
before it is sent; the file on your computer is not touched.

| Image | What your browser does to it | How the page draws it |
| --- | --- | --- |
| An Images block's image | Fitted to 1,920 pixels on its longer side, saved as a JPEG. | 3:2 on its own, 4:3 in a grid, 16:9 as the Header's still. |
| A Cast and crew photo | Fitted to 600 pixels, saved as a JPEG. | A circle. |

If a file cannot be used, its row says why and nothing is added:

| The message | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| "Use a JPG or PNG image." | The file is not a JPG, PNG or WebP, or your browser could not read it. |
| "That image is too large. Use one under 10 MB." | The file is over 40 MB, or still over 10 MB after your browser prepared it. |
| "That image did not upload. Try again." | It did not reach FilmScorecard. Pick the file again. |

### Picking an image

**Which still** (the Header), **Which image** (a Video's cover and the page
background) choose from the images already in your Images blocks, each shown
by its caption or as **Still 1**, **Still 2** and so on. With none yet, they
read "No images yet. Add some and pick one here." and **Add images** opens your
first Images block, or adds one.

**Removing an image from your Images block also clears it wherever it was
picked.**

## Design

The **Design** tab, from the top. **Everything on it is part of your draft**
and waits for publishing like any other edit.

### Themes

**Start from a theme** sets the fonts, colours and button style together; you
can change any of them below. A new page starts on Studio.

| Theme | Fonts |
| --- | --- |
| **Gazette** | Instrument Serif with Instrument Sans |
| **Marquee** | Anton with Archivo |
| **Midnight** | Unbounded with Figtree |
| **Studio** | Libre Franklin |
| **Tidal** | Bricolage Grotesque with Figtree |

**Changing a font, a colour or the link buttons leaves no theme picked.** The
layout and the background are not part of a theme, so changing them keeps it
picked.

### Desktop layout

- **Side column**: on wide screens your header, social links and link buttons
stay in view on the left while the rest scrolls beside them. Phones get one
  column.
- **Centred**: one wide column on every screen, in block order.

### Fonts

**Heading font**: Anton, Bricolage Grotesque, Instrument Serif, Libre Franklin,
Unbounded or Young Serif. **Body font**: Archivo, Figtree, Instrument Sans,
Libre Franklin or Source Serif 4. Each tile shows "Aa" in its font.

### Colours

**Background**, **Text** and **Accent**, each with a swatch that opens your
browser's colour picker and a box for the colour written out, such as
`#1E1B16`. The box takes 3 or 6 letters and digits, with or without the `#`,
and writes it out in full when you leave it. A colour it cannot read shows
"Enter a hex colour, like #1E1B16." and holds publishing.

Two lines can appear under the colours:

- **In red, holding publishing**: "Your text is hard to read on this
background. Pick a darker text colour or a lighter background to publish."
(on a dark background, "a lighter text colour or a darker background").
- **In amber, a warning only**: "Your buttons may blend into the background. A
darker accent will make them easier to spot." (on a dark background, "A
  brighter accent").

### Link buttons

**Filled** or **Outline**, for every Link button that is not highlighted, and
**Square**, **Rounded** or **Pill** for the corners — which sets the corners of
everything on the page, not only the buttons.

### Background

**Solid**, your background colour, or **Image**, one of your page's images
(**Which image**) "shown dimmed behind your page", with your content on your
background colour.

### Made with FilmScorecard footer

The last row on the tab: whether your page shows the small "Made with
FilmScorecard" badge at its foot.

- **Without Pro**, the row carries a **Pro** pill and a switch that stays on,
with "Pro can take it off your page." and **Get Pro**. The footer is always
  on your page.
- **With Pro**, it is a switch you can turn off. Like everything else on the
tab, it is part of your draft: the preview drops the footer straight away,
and visitors see the change once you publish.
- **If Pro ends**, the footer comes back on your page at once, with no need to
publish, and goes again the same way if you take Pro again.

## Saving: autosave and the draft

**There is no save button.** Each edit saves your whole draft about a second
after you stop typing, and straight away when you leave a box, leave the
**Page** tab or press publish. **Draft saved** in the page bar shows the time of the last one.

- **Your draft is only yours.** Visitors see the page as you last published
it, however much the draft has changed.
- **Leaving with an edit not yet saved** asks first: "You have unsaved changes
on this page. Leave without saving them?" Closing the browser tab shows your
  browser's own warning.

### When a save fails

The page bar reads "Couldn't save your draft" in red, with **Retry**. Your
edits are kept in this tab: **Retry** sends them again, and so does your next
edit. Until a save succeeds, leaving the tab asks first.

**"One of your images didn't finish uploading. Add it again."** in its place
means an image in your draft never arrived. Remove that image, upload it again,
and the next save goes through.

### Two tabs at once

If the page is changed in another tab or on another device, this tab stops
saving and shows:

> This page was changed in another tab. Reload to keep editing. **Reload**

**Reload** opens the page as it now stands. Nothing more is saved from this tab
until you do, and an edit you make here meanwhile is lost.

## Publishing

The publish button, at the right of the page bar:

| The button | When |
| --- | --- |
| **Publish page** | The page has never been published, or is private. |
| **Publish 3 changes** | The page is public and your draft differs from it. |
| **Published**, greyed | The page is public and your draft is the same as it. |
| Greyed, with a red line beside it | Something needs fixing. See [What holds publishing](#what-holds-publishing). |

**Publishing puts your draft up exactly as it is**, and the next visitor sees
it. Empty blocks and hidden blocks are left off, and so is a Contact form
while the project does not have Pro. Every page ends with "Made with
FilmScorecard" unless the project has Pro and you have switched it off. See
[Made with FilmScorecard footer](#made-with-filmscorecard-footer).

- **The first time**, a dialog opens: **Your page is live**, "Anyone with the
link can see it now. Edits stay in your draft until you publish again." It
shows the address, a few places to use it under **Where to use it**, **Copy
link** (which reads **Copied** once it has) and **Done**.
- **After that**, publishing shows "Published. 3 changes are live."
- **Publishing a private page** makes it public again: "Your page is public
  again."

**How changes are counted.** Each block you add, change, hide or remove counts
as one change, however much you did to it. Moving blocks around counts as one,
anything on the **Design** tab counts as one, and the **Made with
FilmScorecard footer** switch as one more. Put something back the way it
was and its change drops off the count. While the page is public, your
Overview's Page card shows the same count. See
[Your projects](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-projects.md).

### What holds publishing

**Publishing is held while anything on the page needs fixing** — in every
block, hidden and empty ones included. The red line beside the greyed button
says why:

- "Fix colours to publish": a colour the box cannot read, or text that is hard
to read on the background. See [Colours](#colours).
- "Fix 2 fields to publish": that many boxes have a problem, each shown in red
  under the box itself.
- "Fix colours and 2 fields to publish": both.

Your draft keeps saving while it is held. The line clears as you fix each one.

| The message under a box | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| "Enter a full link, starting with https://" | A link is not a full web address, or starts with `http://`. |
| "Paste a Vimeo or YouTube link." | A video link is not a Vimeo or YouTube link. |
| "Enter a year, like 2026." | One of your laurels' years is not four digits from 1900 to 2099. |
| "Enter a hex colour, like #1E1B16." | A colour box holds something that is not a colour. |
| "Keep the heading to 40 characters." | A box is over its limit. Each says which box and its limit: the label (40), the tagline (140), the text (5,000), the title, the caption, the source, the name, the role, the place and the note (200 each), the bio (300), the quote and the intro (400). |

### Discard draft

**Discard draft**, in the page bar while your draft differs from the published
page, throws away every change since you last published. It asks first:

> **Discard 3 changes?** Your page goes back to what visitors see now.
> **Cancel** **Discard**

Before your first publish it reads "Your page goes back to the starter page."
instead, and returns to the starter page as it was first made, not rebuilt
from your details today.

Confirming shows "Draft discarded." There is no undo.

### Make page private

**Make page private**, in the page bar's **⋯** menu while the page is public,
acts at once and shows "Your page is private."

- **The page's address stops showing it**, to everyone, you included. See
  [The public film page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/public-page.md).
- **Your draft and the published version are kept.** The pill reads
**Private**, **Change** appears beside the address, and the button reads
  **Publish page**.
- **Publish page** makes it public again, with whatever your draft holds.

### When a page has been taken down

FilmScorecard can take a page down. It is then private, the page bar reads
"This page was taken down. Contact support." and the publish button is greyed.
You can still edit your draft and change the address. Once FilmScorecard lifts
it, the page stays private until you publish again. To ask about it, see
[Contacting us](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/contacting-us.md).

## View as visitor

**View as visitor**, in the page bar, shows your **draft** full screen, exactly
as visitors would get it if you published now: no empty or hidden blocks, no
builder controls. On a project without Pro that also means no Contact form,
and the "Made with FilmScorecard" footer, whatever your draft holds. Its bar
reads **Draft preview**, with **Back to editing**.

- **It shows the draft, never the published page.** To see what visitors see
  now, publish first.
- **Links and Play work**; the contact form's **Send** does not.
- **It is the only way to see a private or unpublished page.** Its address
shows the page-not-found screen to everyone, you included.

## Page address

Your page lives at `filmscorecard.com/p/` followed by its address, such as
`lantern-field`.

**You can change it while the page is not public**: before your first publish,
or while it is private. Press **Change** beside the address in the page bar, or
**Check your page address** in [Get your page ready](#get-your-page-ready).

> **Choose your page address** — This is the link you share. You can change it
> until you publish.

1. Type the new address after `filmscorecard.com/p/`.
2. Press **Save address**, or Enter. It shows "Page address saved."

**Lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens**, from 3 to 60 characters.
The box tells you what is wrong as you type:

| The message | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| "Enter an address." | The box is empty. |
| "Use lowercase letters only." | It has a capital letter. |
| "Use at least 3 characters." | It is shorter than 3. |
| "Keep it to 60 characters." | It is longer than 60. An address you already have that is longer still works until you change it. |
| "Use letters, numbers and single hyphens, with no spaces." | It has a space, another character, or two hyphens together, or starts or ends with one. |
| "That address is taken." | It is already in use. |

**While the page is public, the address is fixed**, and **Change** is not
shown. Make the page private first if you must change it.

**An old address is not sent on to the new one.** Anyone using a link with the
old address gets the [page-not-found screen](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/page-not-found.md), so change
it before you share the link.

## On a phone or a narrow window

- **Below 1024 pixels wide**, the preview takes the whole width and the panel
becomes a sheet that slides in from the left. Open it with **Blocks** at the
left of the page bar, and close it with the **×** at its top. Picking a block
to add closes the sheet so you can tap where it goes; the
"Click a spot on the page" line moves to the top of the preview. Opening a
block from the preview opens the sheet on its editor.
- **On a phone**, the page bar keeps the publish button and moves **View as
visitor**, **Discard draft** and **Make page private** into its **⋯** menu.
The **Draft saved** time is not shown; a save problem or the reason
publishing is held shows on a line under the bar.
- **On a touch screen**, the round **+** between blocks is always showing, and
  blocks drag by touch.
