# Your projects

> From FilmScorecard Help: https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-projects

**Your projects** is a filmmaker's own workspace on FilmScorecard. Each film or
screenplay you make is one project, with seven parts: its **Overview**, its
**Page** (the public web page visitors see once you publish it), its
**Festivals**, its **Scorecards**, its **Messages** and **Stats**, and its
**Details**. This guide covers how you get here, the sidebar and its plan line,
the top bar, switching and adding projects, the account menu, the Overview, the
Page and its bar, Messages and Stats, Details, and the workspace on a phone.

**A project is yours alone.** What you put on your page reaches nobody until
you publish the page, and nothing in your project reaches a festival unless you
send it yourself. Each festival keeps the copy of your submission it received. See
[Sending something to a festival](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md#sending-something-to-a-festival).

**You do not need a project to enter a festival or read a scorecard.** The
button and access code in a festival's emails still open your submission page
and your scorecard on their own. See
[Your submission page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-submission-page.md) and
[Your scorecard](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-scorecard.md).

## Getting here

**An account set up as a Creator lands here when it logs in.** There are three
ways to get one:

- register on the **Creators** page and wait for approval. See
  [Requesting beta access](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/requesting-beta-access.md);
- press **Save to your account** on a submission page or scorecard a festival
sent you, and create the account on the way. This does not need beta
  approval. See
  [Saving a submission to your account](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/saving-a-submission-to-your-account.md);
- press **Keep it** on the "Keep this scorecard with the rest of your work" bar
on a scorecard a festival sent you. This does not need beta approval either.
  See [Your scorecard](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-scorecard.md).

**The first time, a welcome screen comes first.** While you own no project,
and a festival has entries with the address you log in with on them, your
projects open the welcome screen instead: it puts your film together from your
newest entry, and nothing is saved until you press **Open**. See
[Your first project](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-first-project.md).

**If you also run a festival or judge, your landing does not change.** The
filmmaker landing applies only to an account that belongs to no organization,
has no access to any festival, holds no judge profile and is not FilmScorecard's
own administrator. Everyone else logs in to the same screen as before and
reaches their projects from a menu:

| Where you work | Where the row is |
| --- | --- |
| Festival and organization screens | **Your projects**, in the [account menu](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-account-menu.md) behind your name, directly above **Your profile**. |
| The judge portal | **Your projects**, in the menu behind your name, directly under **Your account**. |

**The row only appears once you own at least one project.** Nothing is saved to
your account by itself before then, even if you entered festivals with the
address you log in with. To reach the welcome screen that makes your first
project from those entries, go to the address `/projects`. See
[Your first project](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-first-project.md).

**The address `/projects` opens the project you last opened in this browser**,
as long as it is still yours, and otherwise your first project, in A to Z
order. Remembering the last one applies only to an account that is just a
filmmaker; if you also run or judge festivals, it always opens your first
project A to Z. With no projects yet, it opens the
[welcome screen](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-first-project.md), or the
[Add your first project](#with-no-projects-yet) block when there is nothing to
welcome. Opening a projects address while signed out takes you to the log-in
screen first, and you come back here once you are in.

## The sidebar

Down the left of every project:

- **The FilmScorecard mark**, which opens the project's Overview. Beside it, a
button folds the sidebar down to icons; press it again to bring the names
  back.
- **The project**: its small poster, its title, and **Film** or
**Screenplay**. This is a label, not a button. To change project, use
  [the project switcher](#switching-projects).
- **Seven items**:
  - **Overview**: what the project needs from you and what has happened to
    it. See [Overview](#overview).
  - **Page**: the project's public page, where you build and publish it. See
    [Page](#page).
  - **Festivals**: every festival entry saved to this project, as a table.
  - **Scorecards**: every scorecard the festivals have released for it. See
    [The Scorecards tab](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-festival-entries.md#the-scorecards-tab).
  - **Messages**: what visitors send through your page's contact form. Part
of [Creator Pro](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/creator-pro.md). See [Messages and Stats](#messages-and-stats).
  - **Stats**: who your page reaches and where they came from. Part of
[Creator Pro](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/creator-pro.md). See [Messages and Stats](#messages-and-stats).
  - **Details**: the project's title, length, logline, synopsis, poster,
trailer link, credits and the rest. See [Details](#details).

**Festivals** and **Scorecards** are both in
  [Your festival entries](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-festival-entries.md).
- **A number beside an item** counts what is in it: the To do items on
**Overview**, the entries on **Festivals**, the scorecards on
**Scorecards**. An item with nothing in it has no number.
- **On a project with Pro, Messages carries an amber number**: the messages
still marked **New**. With none, there is no number.
- **On a project without Pro, Messages and Stats carry an indigo Pro pill**
  instead of a number.
- **At the foot, the plan line**: which plan the project is on, with **Get
Pro** on the free plan. See [The plan line](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/creator-pro.md#the-plan-line).
- **Under it**: "A festival sees only the submission it received. Nothing
else in this account is shared with it."

Moving between the seven items is instant, and each has an address of its own,
so a bookmark opens the item you were on. With the sidebar folded down to
icons, the numbers, the Pro pills and the plan line are hidden.

## The top bar

Across the top of every project, to the right of the sidebar:

- **On the left: the project switcher**, a button showing the current
project's small poster (when it has one), its title and a small arrow. See
  [Switching projects](#switching-projects).
- **On the right**:
  - **The bell**: what festivals are asking you for, festival news, entries
that joined a project by themselves, and messages from your page's
    visitors. See [The bell](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md).
  - **Your name**, with **Creator** under it, and your initials in a circle.
    They open [the account menu](#the-account-menu).

**View as visitor** and publishing are not in the top bar: they are on the
project's [Page](#page).

**In View as visitor, the sidebar and the top bar step aside**, and a bar of
its own, **Draft preview** with **Back to editing**, takes their place.

## Switching projects

Press the project switcher to open your list of projects, headed **YOUR
PROJECTS**.

- **A search box** at the top reads "Search 3 projects" and narrows the list
by title as you type, ignoring capitals. **×** clears it, and so does the
Escape key. With nothing matching, the list reads "No projects match" with a
  **Clear search** button.
- **Every project you own is listed, A to Z by title**, with its small poster
and **Film** or **Screenplay**. Capitals are ignored when sorting. The
project you are on is highlighted.
- **An amber number on another project** counts the items festivals are
missing on that project right now. The bell's To do list has them; see
  [Missing items](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md#missing-items).
- **Add a project** sits at the foot of the list. See
  [Adding a project](#adding-a-project).

Choosing a project opens its Overview. Choosing the one you are on just closes
the list.

## Adding a project

1. Open the project switcher and choose **Add a project**, or press **Add a
   project** in the [no-projects block](#with-no-projects-yet).
2. Type the **Title**. It is required, and the box stops at 200 characters.
3. Choose the **Format**: **Film** or **Screenplay**. **Film** is chosen to
   begin with.
4. If you like, type the **Length**. You can leave it blank.
   - For a film, the runtime as minutes and seconds: the box shows `mm:ss`,
and `12:47` is twelve minutes forty-seven seconds. Minutes can go past
     59, so a feature is `104:30`.
   - For a screenplay, the page count, a whole number from 1 to 10,000, with
     **pages** beside the box.
5. Choose **Add project**. The button reads **Adding…** while it works.

You land on the new project's **Page**, with a starter page made from what you
typed, so you can start building it. Nothing is public until you publish. See
[Editing your page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/editing-your-page.md). The rest of the project's facts
go on its [Details](#details).

**The format cannot be changed afterwards.** It decides whether
[Details](#details) asks for a runtime or a page count, and whether the project
is labelled Film or Screenplay. **There is no way to delete a project either**,
so if you choose the wrong format, the only fix is to add another project.

**The page's address is made from the title now.** Renaming the project later
does not change it. You can choose a different address on the
[Page](#page) while the page is not published yet or is private; while it is
public, the address is fixed. See [Editing your page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/editing-your-page.md).

- **A blank title** is refused with "Enter a title." under the box. Nothing is
  created.
- **A length that cannot be read** is refused under its box with "Enter the
runtime as minutes and seconds, like 12:47." for a film, or "Enter the page
count as a whole number." for a screenplay. Nothing is created. Switching
the format clears the message but keeps what you typed.
- **"That did not save. Try again."** in the dialog means the project could not
be created. Nothing was added, so press **Add project** again.
- **The dialog cannot be closed while it is adding.** **Cancel** closes it the
  rest of the time.
- **A project you add yourself is never removed by FilmScorecard.** The one
kind of project that can disappear without you doing anything is described in
[When a project goes away by itself](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/saving-a-submission-to-your-account.md#when-a-project-goes-away-by-itself).

### With no projects yet

An account with no projects, and no festival entries waiting to be put
together on the [welcome screen](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-first-project.md), sees one block where
a project would be:

> **Add your first project**
>
> Add a film or screenplay to keep its details and festival entries in one
> place.

and an **Add a project** button under it. The sidebar has no project and no
items yet, and the top bar no project switcher; the bell and the account menu
are there as usual.

## The account menu

Your name and initials, on the right of the top bar, open a menu with your name
and the address you log in with at the top, then:

| Row | Who has it | Where it goes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Judge portal** | Anyone who also judges on FilmScorecard | Your judging home |
| **Your festivals** | Anyone who belongs to an organization that runs festivals | Your festival screens |
| **Account settings** | Anyone who belongs to an organization, or who judges | Your profile screen in your organization. With no organization, it is the judge account screen |
| **Sign out** | Everyone | Signs you out, after the same confirmation every other screen uses |

**An account that is only a filmmaker has just Sign out.** There is no account
screen for filmmakers yet, so your name and the address you log in with cannot
be changed from here. If you need either changed, use the
[contact form](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/contacting-us.md).

## Overview

**A project opens on its Overview.** At the top are the poster, the title with
**Edit details** beside it, and a line with **Film** or **Screenplay**, the
length (a runtime like `12:47`, or "104 pages") and "*name*, director" from the
first credit on [Details](#details) whose role is Director or Co-director.
Anything the project does not have is left out of that line. **Edit details**
opens [Details](#details). Once a festival has announced a result for the
film, a green pill names the best one, for example "Official Selection,
Northlight 2026". "Award winner, *festival* *year*" outranks an
Official Selection.

Under the header are five cards: **To do**, **Festivals** and **Updates** on
the left, and **Page** and **Up next** beside them.

### To do

What this project needs from you, with the count beside the heading:

- **What a festival is asking for**: "You're missing 2 items for *festival*
that affect your score", with the items listed under it. Its button is:
  - **Send to festival**, when the project's [Details](#details) already hold
something the festival asked for. It sends everything they can answer in
    one go, and reads **Sending…** while it works;
  - otherwise **Add** and the item, such as **Add Poster**, which opens
    [Details](#details) at that field;
  - or **Open submission page**, for an item only the submission page can
take. It opens that festival's **Submission details** page, where the
    item is filled in.

  See [Missing items](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md#missing-items).
- **"Read your *festival* scorecard"**, for a scorecard the festival has
released that you have not opened since, with the season and "Filed *date*."
  under it, and **Open scorecard**.

What festivals are asking for comes first, then the scorecards to read, newest
first. With nothing to do, the card reads "Nothing to do. New items show here
when a festival adds something." The bell's To do has the same items, for all
your projects at once.

### Festivals

One row per festival entry in this project, with the count of entries beside
the heading. Each row shows the festival, the season and categories, the
festival's submission number (like `SUB-04213`), the status pill, and a short
note:

- once the festival has released your scorecard: "Scorecard 8.6 / 10" when it
is unlocked, "Scorecard filed, 3 judges" when it is not, or "2 scorecards"
  for an entry with more than one;
- before that, the next announcement date still ahead, like "Results 7 Nov
  2026" or "Awards 7 Nov 2026";
- otherwise "Scorecard not released yet".

With no entries the card reads "No festival entries yet". Its foot always
reads "Entered with another address? Add the entry with the access code from
the festival's email." with **Add an entry**. What the pills mean, adding an
entry and the full list are in
[Your festival entries](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-festival-entries.md).

### Updates

News about this project, newest first, one sentence each, with the day beside
the first one of each day: a festival selecting the film or not, an award, a
released scorecard, a message from a visitor to your page, and an entry that
joined this project by itself:

> Your *festival* *season* entry joined *project*.

**Move** beside that one puts the entry in another project, if it belongs
somewhere else. Entries join by themselves once you own a project; see
[Entries that arrive later](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-first-project.md#entries-that-arrive-later).

With nothing yet, the card reads "No updates yet." The bell has the same
updates, for all your projects, and is where you open them, mark them seen and
dismiss them. See [The bell](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md).

### The Page card

- **A pill with the page's state**:

  | The pill | It means |
  | --- | --- |
  | **Not published yet** | The page has never been published. Its address shows visitors "page not found". |
  | **Public** | Anyone with the link can see the page. |
  | **Private** | The page has been published before but is not public now. Its address shows visitors "page not found". |
  | **Taken down** (red) | FilmScorecard has taken the page down. It is not public, and you cannot publish it until it is restored. This pill shows in place of any of the others. |

- **"*N* changes not published"**, in amber, while the page is public and your
draft holds changes visitors do not see yet.
- **The page's address**, like `filmscorecard.com/p/the-long-way-home`, once
you have opened the project's [Page](#page) at least once.
- **LAST 30 DAYS**: **Views**, **Video plays** and **Link clicks** on your
public page. Video plays count visitors pressing play on a Video block, and
link clicks count visitors pressing a Link block's button. Your own visits
while you are signed in are not counted, and neither are visits by people
signed in as staff or judges at a festival the film was entered in, or by
FilmScorecard's own administrators. These three figures are on every
project, with or without Pro. See
  [The public film page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/public-page.md).
- **Copy link**, only while the page is public: it copies the page's address,
and reads **Copied** for a moment.
- **Open Page** opens the project's [Page](#page).

### Up next

Dates still ahead, soonest first, like "Sat 7 Nov 2026":

- "*festival* results" and "*festival* awards", on the days each festival
  announces them;
- the screenings in your page's **Screenings** blocks, with the venue, then
the city and the time. They come from your draft, so screenings you have not
published yet are listed too, and so are those in a hidden block. A
screening with no date is not listed.

With nothing ahead, the card reads "Nothing scheduled."

## Page

**Page** is where you build the project's public page, out of blocks, and
publish it. There is no separate edit mode: the tab is the editor. Your edits
save to a draft as you go, and visitors see nothing new until you publish. See
[Editing your page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/editing-your-page.md) and
[The public film page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/public-page.md).

### The page bar

Across the top of the tab, one bar holds:

- **Page**, with **Not published yet** or **Private** beside it. Nothing is
beside it while the page is public.
- The page's address, with **Change** beside it while the page is not public.
- **Draft saved** and the time of the last save.
- **Discard draft**, when your draft has changes. It takes the page back to
what you last published, or to the starter page before the first publish.
- **View as visitor**, which shows your draft as a visitor would see it.
- **⋯**, holding **Make page private** while the page is public.
- The publish button: **Publish page** while the page is not public,
**Publish *N* changes** while it is public and your draft has changes, and
**Published**, greyed out, when there is nothing new to publish.

When something on the page needs fixing first, the reason sits beside the
publish button, such as "Fix colours to publish" or "Fix 2 fields to publish".
When FilmScorecard has taken the page down, the bar says "This page was taken
down. Contact support." and you cannot publish. Every button and message on the
bar is in [Editing your page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/editing-your-page.md).

## Festivals and Scorecards

**Festivals** lists every festival entry saved to this project, and
**Scorecards** every scorecard the festivals have released for them. Both are
in [Your festival entries](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-festival-entries.md).

## Messages and Stats

**Messages and Stats come with [Creator Pro](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/creator-pro.md)**, a paid plan
for one project.

- **On a project with Pro**, **Messages** lists what visitors send through
your page's contact form, and **Stats** shows your page's views, visitors,
link clicks, video plays and messages, and where visitors came from. See
  [Messages](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/messages.md) and [Stats](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/stats.md).
- **On a project without Pro**, each tab shows one card saying what the tool
does, with **Get Pro** and "$4.99 a month or $39.99 a year for this page".
  See [Getting Pro](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/creator-pro.md#getting-pro).

## Details

**Details** holds the facts about the project itself, in one form: its title,
format (shown, not changeable), length, year, genre, country, language,
logline, synopsis, poster, trailer link and credits. Change what you like and
press **Save changes**; "Details saved." confirms it. Open it from the
sidebar, or with **Edit details** beside the project's title on the Overview.

- **Your page's Header** takes its title, details line and poster from here, so
a saved change shows on your page straight away, without publishing.
- **What a festival asks for** is sent from here. The bell's and the
Overview's **Add** buttons open Details at the field the festival is missing.
  See [Missing items](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md#missing-items).
- **Saving Details never changes a festival's copy of your submission.** A
festival gets something from your project only when you send it. See
  [Sending something to a festival](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/your-notifications.md#sending-something-to-a-festival).

Every field, the poster, the credits and every message a save can show are in
[Your project's details](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/project-details.md).

## Links from before

**Old links still land in the right place**, in emails and bookmarks alike:

- **A link to a project's old edit mode** that named a field opens Details at
that field; any other opens the project's **Page**. See
  [Your project's details](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/project-details.md).
- **A link to View as visitor** opens View as visitor on the project's
  **Page**.
- **The old Project details address**, `/projects/<id>/details`, is now the
  Details tab itself.

## On a phone or a narrow window

At 1024 pixels wide and below:

- **The sidebar becomes a bar across the top**, with the mark, the bell, a
**Menu** button, and your name over **Creator** with your initials. **Menu**
opens the project, its seven items and its plan line as a panel, and reads
**Close** while it is open. With no project yet there is no **Menu**.
- **The project switcher** sits on its own bar under it.
- **The Overview's Page and Up next cards** drop under the other three.

At 640 pixels wide and below:

- **Your name and Creator are dropped**, and your initials alone open the
  account menu.
- **Buttons grow to a comfortable size** for a finger on a touch screen.
- **On the Page's bar, View as visitor and Discard draft move into the ⋯
  menu.** See [Editing your page](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/editing-your-page.md).

## What is not here yet

- **No deleting a project, and no changing its format.**
- **No screen listing all your projects side by side.** The project switcher
  is the list.
- **No account screen for a filmmaker-only account.** See
  [The account menu](#the-account-menu).
- **No emails about your projects**, about a submission being saved to your
account, or about a festival's request or news. The bell is the only notice.
The emails your projects do send are a visitor's message through your page's
contact form, which is part of Pro (see
  [Messages from visitors](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/public-page.md#messages-from-visitors)), and the
emails about a project's Pro plan (see
  [The emails Pro sends](https://www.filmscorecard.com/help/creator-pro.md#the-emails-pro-sends)).
